
Richmond
Richmond, B.C. is a multicultural city of approximately 173,430 people, bordering the City of Vancouver. This "Island City" is situated on a group of islands at the mouth of the Fraser River, just off the Lower Mainland of British Columbia. Almost all of the city's infrastructure exists on its two main islands, the Lulu Island and Sea Island. Richmond is often referred to as "The Gateway to British Columbia" because it is home to the Vancouver International Airport, just a 30-minute drive from the Canada / U.S. border and is next door to the metropolis of Vancouver. Once a fishing, canning and agricultural center, Richmond is now a modern, mutlicultural city with a mix of urban, suburban and rural settings. It has more than 90 parks, over 200 acres of the raised peat bog habitat, an extensive recreational trail system that is over 7 km in length and a wide variety of recreational amentiities and cultural facilities.
Richmond is best known for the charming Historic Fishing Village of Steveston, for its excellent Asian restaurants and markets, and for rare and diverse natural settings that support a wide variety of flora and fauna.

Richmond Nature Park: 200 acres of the raised peat bog habitat that once covered large portions of Lulu Island. Easy walking trails.
Whale Watching: Discover the amazing Orca or take a guided historical tour of the Fraser River.
Richmond Dykes: Easy walking or biking trails for the whole family. You can view wildlife or stop at historic sights along the way.
Richmond Buddist Temple: One of the largest in North America and an exquisite examples of Chinese palatial architecture.
Historic Steveston: At one time the largest fish processing area in the world.
Britannia Heritage Shipyard: Britannia is one of the few surviving examples from Steveston's rich past, when a mix of canneries, net lofts, boatyards, residences, and stores defined the neighbourhood.
Richmond Iona Island: Iona Beach offers 12 miles (20 km) of sandy shoreline beside Sea Island.
Garry Point Park: This large waterfront park is located at 12015 7th Avenue (West end of Chatham Street), next to Steveston's Historic Fishing Village. It provides for spectacular views of the Fraser River and the Gulf Islands. Park has Historic Docks, Japanese Garden, Picnic Tables, Concession Stand, Public Art, and Walking Paths.
London Heritage Farm: A 4.6 acre site overlooking the south arm of the Fraser River with a fully resorted 1880's farm house, gardens, the restored Spragg family barn, old farm equipment, hand tool museum, tea room, 1910 buggy and 1952 Ferguson tractor. Located at the south end of Gilbert Road and west to 6511 Dyke Road in sunny Steveston.
